ADC coalition not a real threat to Tinubu’s second term — Senator Hussain

A gubernatorial aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Senator Mudashiru Husain, has described the country’s opposition coalition as nothing short of a ragtag formation of political opportunists that cannot pose any threat to President Bola Tinubu’s second-term ambition.

The former lawmaker representing Osun West Senatorial District noted that their restless moves have not only shown sheer desperation but also a lack of ideology, conviction, and direction.

In a statement he signed and released to journalists on Sunday, the former NPC federal commissioner noted that the fragile assemblage is a theatre of political desperation, which cannot serve as any threat to the reelection of President Bola Tinubu owing to his excellent performance.

“It’s no news that the said coalition is a sinking ship with holes below the waterline, which homes a cabal of has-beens collectively ignited by inordinate ambition, spite, and vengeance, and bound to collapse due to its weight of contradictions. It is an amalgam stitched together with thread of bitterness and ambition, with no fresh ideas but to resort to alliance-building for optics and not impact.

“This ragtag of malcontents and a blend of old guard driven by selfish motives under the pretense of a rescue mission is like a snake shedding its skin but still venomous. Nigerians have gone beyond their theatrics because they are like vultures circling a carcass to milk the country dry.

“Nigerians can’t be swayed any longer because the period of political fireworks without a blueprint for development is long gone, as President Tinubu is gradually delivering on his campaign promises. His administration is akin to quality leadership by steering Nigeria through the turbulence of global economic volatility while driving through reforms, which are already repositioning the country towards socioeconomic prosperity.

“President Tinubu’s remarkable achievements are not just on paper but felt in real terms, ranging from the bold removal of fuel subsidy and decisive unification of forex exchange for long-term fiscal sustainability, to massive investment in critical infrastructure, security re-engineering, digital economy, and human capital developments such as student loan, conditional cash transfer, among others.

“It’s glaring enough that no coalition, regardless of how they chant good governance, can obliterate the enduring legacy of a leader who has prioritized people-centred policies and governance driven by results and not rhetoric. Tinubu’s administration may not be perfect like any other, but it’s straightforward, courageous, reform-driven, and committed to the nation’s stability – qualities which the coalition is lacking.

“It’s shocking that the same attention-seeking politicians who have repeatedly betrayed Nigerians’ trust by flip-flopping ideologically based on where to cling to relevance and satisfy their gluttonous desires now parade themselves as vanguards of democracy. They should know that Nigerians have not forgotten their rudderless, reckless, and unpatriotic dispositions while in power.

“It should be noted that President Tinubu is not shaken at all by their shenanigans, as his reelection will be well decided by the masses, not the coalition, based on his impressive scorecards. The opposition can continue to assemble under different banners, but so long as their drive is fueled by vested interests of vendetta and power-grabbing instead of a blueprint, they are no threat to the progressive tide sweeping the entire country,” the statement concluded.
