ADC offers no real alternative, just ‘APC Pro Max’ — Soyombo

Investigative journalist Fisayo Soyombo has slammed the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing it as a political refuge for displaced politicians.

Soyombo, in a social media post on Tuesday, said Nigeria’s salvation does not lie in the hands of what he called “Internally Displaced Politicians (IDPs)” who have come together to form ADC, which he described as a “vendetta actualisation vehicle”.

He also dubbed ADC as an “old guard” and linked it to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which he referred to as the “All Pilferers Congress”.

Soyombo claimed the ADC offers no genuine alternative and, if elected, would only continue existing political patterns.

He also warned that a contest between the APC and ADC, whom he referred to as “the new APC”, could resemble a repeat of the 2015 political landscape, in which expectations for reform, he said, were not met.

According to Soyombo, any coalition formed within the ADC and led by the political old guard would be “APC pro max” if it were to gain power.

He stated, “If the two options before the electorate in 2027 end up being ADC and the All Pilferers Congress (APC), then there can only be one winner, and that will never be the people.

“A contest between the old APC and the new APC will result in one winning APC, tantamount to a reenactment of 2015, which hugely questions, even rubbishes, our studentship of history.

“ADC has nothing to offer other than rotational motion: five steps forward and at least another five behind, at best.

“As long as it is peopled by the old guard, any coalition conceived, conceptualised and compressed into the ADC will be APC pro max should it get into power.

“The people – not politicians – will save Nigeria when they’re ready.”
