LAGOS State PDP governorship candidate, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, has admonished Lagosians not to resort to violence in this month’s elections.

Pledging that if elected, his deputy would not be a rubber stamp, Agbaje

He said Lagos has been tottering in last 16 years and to come out of the problem, there was need to come together and ensure that the PDP wins the governorship election.

He made this appeal at a campaign rally at Orile Agege and Ifako Ijaye local government area of Lagos.

He also canvassed support for President Goodluck Jonathan in the presidential election.

According to him: “Lagos is blessed with materials and intellectuals.

About N5 trillion has been spent on the state and yet there are no concrete values it has added to the lives of the masses.

“The schools are not taken care of by the Babatunde Fashola’s government.”

Agbaje urged the people not to be violent during election, as “God has given us the vote. We won’t intimidate Lagosian; we will pursue them APC government) out of Alausa in 2015.

“We are sure that we will win this election because we have better ideas than them because for the past 16 years, they have not elevate our status given the resources at their disposal.”

He said his administration would not disturb the market women, adding, “we will not oppress Lagosian; we know that the little they have they use in taking care of their children.”

A member of the party, Amos Olayinka, also charged the people to vote massively for President Jonathan and Vice President Namadi Sambo in the February 14 election.

“For continuity sake, let us support all our candidates, as the APC has nothing to offer,” he said.

Olayinka encouraged the people to dismiss the propaganda that there is likely to be violence, like it was in 2011 when Jonathan won.

“This is mere propaganda; there is no cause for alarm. If Mr. President wins the election, Nigeria will continue,” he said.

He commended the president for the tremendous achievements he had made in the last four years, noting that, “particularly, the transformation agenda the country has witnessed under his government.”

He admonished the electorate not to be deceived by the noise the opposition was making.

“It all amounts to political propaganda, which will take the party to nowhere,” he said, adding, “Jonathan stands a better advantage to win the 2015 presidential election.”

… Assures South-South of fair treatment

GOVERNORSHIP candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, and a former Minister of Works, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, have sought total support of South-South indigenes in the state for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan.

The duo pledged that the party would not disappoint them if elected into power in the state, as it has an all-inclusive policy of giving more opportunities to non-indigenes.

The promise was made at a ceremony organised by the forum to adopt Agbaje and Jonathan as their candidates in this month’s elections.

The forum said it adopted Jonathan and Agbaje because of their enviable past antecedents.

One of the leaders of the forum, Mr. Sunday Ekanem made reference to the country’s economy, which, he said, has witnessed an unprecedented growth since the emergence of President Jonathan.

According to him, Nigeria’s economy is now valued at over $510,000,000,000, and rated first in Africa.

Besides, he said Jonathan has recorded tremendous achievement in the agriculture and power sectors of the economy, and invested massively in infrastructure.

“It is not enough for General Muhammadu Buhari and (All Progressives Congress) to boast that they will revamp the Nigerian economy, create jobs and awards scholarships without producing a road map and blueprint on how they intend to go about these issues,” Ekanem said.

The South-South leader berated the Lagos State APC over what he described as anti-non-indigenes policy.

“The choice of Jimi by the South-South PDP and her indigenes in Lagos is borne out of the need to present a credible candidate that will assuage the yearnings of Lagosians, for a humane, ingenious and economically sound indigene to take over as the new helmsman at Alausa,” said.

In his comment, Mr. Agbaje, who was flanked by his deputy, Alhaja Safurat Abdukareem, decried what he defined as the ill-treatment of non-indigenes by the APC government in the state.

He said without the non-indigenes, Lagos would look like a village.
