Aggrieved members of the aspirants’ forum of the Taraba State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have called on members of the party allegedly working against the senator representing Taraba South, David Jimkuta, to desist from such acts as a matter of urgency.

In a press statement made available to media practitioners on Saturday in Jalingo, the aspirants accused certain party members of undermining the party’s unity in pursuit of selfish interests, while insisting Jimkuta is “most transparent leader in Taraba APC.”

They expressed shock at a recent publication disowning the monetary gift recently given to the aspirants and the party by the senator.

The senator was observed to have recently given a sum of N6 million to the aggrieved aspirants and N1 million to the party, an action which has reportedly caused unrest within the party.

Describing the publication as a “deliberate attempt by enemies to sow discord within the party,” the forum argued that such actions are typical of individuals whose ambition is to create division within the party whenever efforts are made to unify its members.

Signed by the aggrieved aspirants’ forum chairman, Jeff Mash, the statement challenged those behind the publication to publicly declare whether they are indeed members of the APC or not.

Questioning their loyalty, they suggested that such individuals might be agents intent on destroying the party from within.

They also asserted that under Senator Jimkuta’s leadership, the APC in the state has found direction, likening the party to “a sheep without a shepherd” before his involvement.

“We believe in the leadership style of Senator Jimkuta. He is the most transparent leader in Taraba APC,” the statement read.

The forum, as further noted in the release, reaffirmed its commitment to the survival and constitution of the party and pledged its continued support for the party’s leadership, both at the state and national levels.

Stressing the need for strong and effective leadership to ensure the party’s success in future elections, they called for serious attention to be paid to the internal issues currently plaguing the APC in the state.

While applauding the senator for his efforts to reconcile party executives and aggrieved aspirants, they urged him to remain focused despite distractions from detractors.
