The crisis rocking African Democratic Congress (ADC) has deepened following the emergence of Senator Patricia Akwashiki as caretaker chairman of the party.

But the National Publicity Secretary, Ifenla Oligbinde, has described the move as an illegal act strange to the party’s constitution.

She pledged that the Ralphs Nwosu-led National Working Committee (NWC) would respond in due course. A faction of the National Executive Committee (NEC) loyal to the party’s presidential candidate, Dumebi Kachikwu, yesterday, inaugurated a seven-member caretaker committee to steer affairs of the party ahead of the 2023 polls.

This is coming against the backdrop of the purported suspension of Kachikwu by another section of the party’s NEC in full support of the continued stay of Nwosu as chairman till after next year’s general elections.

Akwashiki, in her acceptance speech, promised smoother running of the party.

Chairman, ADC State Chairmen Forum, Kingsley Temitope Ogga, urged stalwarts to check escalation of the crisis current rocking the party.
