Ajimobi to install Adetunji, 41st Olubadan on March 4
Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi will on March 4, 2016 install Alhaji Saliu Adetunji, as the 41st Olubadan of Ibadan.Alhaji Adetunji , who is an entertainment mogul, would be crowned at the famous Mapo Hall. He is from the Balogun Lineage and is regarded as a liberal and progressive businessman.
According to a source close to the Olubadan-in-Council, the installation ceremony earlier scheduled to take place on February. 26 was postponed to March 4, sequel to an agreement with the state government.
It would be recalled that after the demise of the late Olubadan, Oba Samuel Odulana, High Chief Saliu Adetunji , the Balogun of Ibadanland emerged Olubadan -designate in line with the Ibadan chieftaincy system.
Meanwhile, the Olubadan-designate has said his coronation was delayed to give the late Olubadan, Oba Odulana a befitting burial
Receiving the juju maestro, Chief Ebenezer Obey Fabiyi in his Popoyemoja residence, he said “Once you cross the barrier, you get the date. So, the date is Friday, March 4 at Oja’Ba, Ibadan where the previous Olubadan received their staff of office. But, Saturday, March 5 is for big reception at a venue that is yet to be decided.”
The Olubadan-in-waiting spoke in the same vein in a message he sent through his Media Aide, Adeola Oloko to the President of Ibadan Descendants Union, Mr. Laja Akintayo, saying Friday and Saturday, March 4 and 5 this year remain sacrosanct. The Ibadan Descendants Union in the United States had asked to know the date of the coronation to determine the extent of their involvement.
Earlier, the Juju music maestro, described the Olubadan-elect as a dependable and reliable pillar in music recording,composition, promotion, advertisement and marketing. He prayed for continued peace, progress and development in Ibadanland under the new leadership.
