Voter registration records large turnout
The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the forthcoming Anambra State governorship election, Nicholas Ukachukwu, has vowed to probe incidences of killings in the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to ensure that justice is brought to bear on the dastardly acts.
He also promised to chase away the seeming notorious Special Anti-touting Squid Agency (SASA), emphasising that his government, if elected, would prosecute them for human rights violations.
Speaking to party members and supporters during his ‘Thank You Tour’ of Ogbaru Local Council of the state yesterday, Ukachukwu lamented that the unwholesome activities of SASA personnel have forced residents and indigenes of the commercial nerve-centre of Onitsha and environs to relocate to neighbouring state of Delta
Ukachukwu pointed out that his administration would ensure that the Soludo administration is made to account for its stewardship in its period of public service, as the governor of the state, accusing it of alleged misappropriation of public fund.
He equally assured that his administration would render quarterly account of its financial inflows and management as part of its beliefs in the principle of accountability.
Ukachukwu said: “Nobody can steal or misappropriate funds belonging to the state government and go scot free.”
The APC gubernatorial candidate fingered the state government of currently wooing voters with purported stolen public fund to sponsor campaign activities instead of the governor’s personal fund, describing it as undemocratic.
HOWEVER, there was remarkable increase in the turnout of eligible voters during the day three in the ongoing voter registration across the 326 wards of Anambra State.
The Guardian learnt that there was remarkable turnout of eligible voters in some wards like Ward 13 Owerre-Ezukala, in Orumba South Local Council and Ward Six Amikwo Awka, in Awka Sout Local Council of the state.
However, the APC urged eligible voters to go and register and acquire their voter cards in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), organised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
APC, through its governorship candidate in the November 8, 2025 election, Ukachukwu, and his running mate, Uche Ekwunife, further advised them to take advantage of the window period of July 8 to 17 and get new voter cards or update their voter status.
