APC flags off campaign for Niger LG elections

The All Progressive Congress (APC), Niger State Chapter, has flagged off its campaign for the local council elections scheduled for November 1, 2025, across the 25 local councils.

Performing the official flag-off in Minna over the weekend, Governor Muhammad Umaru Bago urged the electorates to come out in large numbers to vote for APC candidates.

Bago noted that he wished the party emerges victorious in all the 25 chairmanship and 274 councillorship elections.

The governor praised party members across the state for their commitment and unwavering support for his leadership and that of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, appealing for ongoing support for the party.

He said, “The federal government and Niger State government are partnering to ensure the insecurity challenges confronting the state and Nigeria are overcome in no distant time to enhance peace, stability and development”.

Bago had earlier donated vehicles to each of the 25 local councils, except Paikoro, which is currently involved in a case regarding its primary election. According to him, until the court has decided the case, it cannot benefit from the vehicle gift.

Earlier, APC National Vice Chairman, North Central, Alhaji Mu’azu Bawa Rijau, tasked the ruling party with carrying everyone along, without discrimination, to achieve party unity and stability, leading to victory.

Rijau stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Bago will surely win their second-term elections in 2027.

The Speaker, Niger State House of Assembly, and Director General of the State APC Campaign Council for the upcoming Local Council Elections, Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin-Daji, expressed gratitude to party faithful and the people of Niger State for their large turnout.

Sarkin-Daji stated that the election will serve as a litmus test of the APC’s integrity, capacity, and popularity under the leadership of Governor Bago and its supporters.

Sarkin-Daji described the turnout as overwhelming and congratulated the entire APC family on their unity and commitment, while emphasising that the upcoming Local Council Elections are not ordinary elections.

Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, urged the residents of the state to reciprocate the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Bago by voting for APC candidates to secure more dividends of democracy.

In their separate remarks, former Deputy Governors of Niger State, Ahmed Musa Ibeto and Ahmed Muhammad Ketso, also called for support for the party’s success and enjoined the candidates to provide quality leadership at the grassroots when voted into office.

Chairman of the National Population Commission, Alh. Aminu Yusuf encouraged all eligible voters to vote for APC candidates, as their leadership will complement the Bago-led administration in the state.

The political campaign flag-off climaxed with the presentation of APC flags to all the party’s chairmanship candidates, signalling the commencement of council election campaigns across the state.
