FOLLOWING the disagreement between the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition over governance in Kaduna State at the weekend, some loyalists of the party have supported Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s administration in the state.

Speaking with journalists in Kaduna, the APC State Acting Publicity Secretary, Mallam Salisu Wusono, said all policies adopted by El-Rufai were in line with the ruling party’s manifestos and agenda, urging members to remain loyal.

Wusono, while reacting to a media briefing by the aggrieved APC members, advised them not to distract the governor in his task to transform the state.

But some party chieftains in the state, among who were Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, Suleiman Ahmed, who represented Senator Shehu Sani, Alhaji Kabir Umar, Dr. Tom Maitamaki Maiyashi and Hajiya Hafsat Baba accused El-Rufai of allegedly hijacking affairs of the party in the state to pursue personal agenda, while sidelining party members that contributed in ensuring APC’s victory in the last general elections.

Wusono said: “APC as a party has a manifestos and also a constitution and we are working in line with the constitution of our party. We have only one APC in Kaduna State. The party has leadership and structure.
“We are running the affairs of the party according to the manifestos, constitution and ideology of APC. It is laughable if somebody in Kaduna State said APC is not functioning.”

He added that: “Any party member who is talking about our governor’s policies in a negative way is the person running anti-peoples advocacy in the state to deprive the masses of good things. Go through Governor El-Rufai’s 2016 budget proposal recently presented to the state Assembly and you will see.”

Meanwhile, Arewa youth group, under the umbrella of Arewa Triumphant Youth Foundation (ATYF) has appealed to members of the Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) to lay down their arms and allow peace reign in the region.

The group said that even though tribe and religion differ, it would not be pleasant to see their Eastern brothers and sisters going their separate way and leaving Nigeria dismembered.

The President of ATYF, Mallam Ibrahim Yusuf, spoke at a press conference at the weekend, to announce activities lined up for the proposed Arewa Youth Leadership Summit scheduled for this month in

Yusuf said it was regrettable that major actors in pro-Biafra protest, Boko Haram insurgency, kidnapping, and Fulani herdsmen were youths, saying, “There is no
point for our eastern brothers and sisters agitating to pull out of Nigeria.

We are brothers, we should be able to live together as one big family, nothing should separate us.”
Insisting that, “MASSOB members should lay down their arms, and allow us to stay together for the betterment of this great country,” adding that, “there is no doubt that 99 percent of these people who are actors in these crises are young persons, and this is because they are jobless, and to stop them from being violent, government at all levels must provide jobs and enabling environment for the youth.”
