The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has summoned members of the Anambra State executive committee to explain their roles in the alleged tampering of the delegates’ list to pick the party’s candidate for the November governorship election.

APC had informed all aspirants that upon purchase, completion and return of their expression of interest and nomination forms, they would be handed a list containing the names of delegates for the primary.

The national leadership had explained that the measure was to ensure transparency and avail every candidate a level-playing field. However, to the chagrin of the dozen of aspirants, none was given the list and upon enquiry, they were told that there were certain issues regarding the document the national leadership of the party was looking into.

But discreet inquiries at APC national secretariat, Abuja allegedly revealed that one of the frontline aspirants in cahoots with the state chairman, Emeka Ezeibe and the organising secretary had surreptitiously doctored the original list and inserted his loyalists.

A party source confided in The Guardian that a member of the NWC from Southeast smelt a rat when the decision to give out the original list was breached and started probing into the misconduct only to discover that the suspects took advantage of the hurried overseas travel of the national chairman, Chief John Oyegun, to doctor the document.

Contacted, state chairman, Ezeibe, said even though all executive members were in Abuja, it had nothing to do with list, pointing out that he only got wind of the allegation when he arrived at the national secretariat.
