APGA wins all chairmanship, councillorship seats in Anambra LG polls

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has won all 21 chairmanship and councillorship positions in the local council elections conducted in Anambra State on Saturday, September 28, 2024.
The Chairman of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC), Genevieve Osakwe, announced the results at the ANSIEC office in Awkanoon on Sunday.
Osakwe stated that APGA secured all 21 chairmanship seats, and also won the councillorship positions in each local council, as confirmed at the ward level.
Describing the election as the fairest, Osakwe emphasised that the commission meticulously collated and analysed the results to ensure accuracy.
She gave details of the total votes scored by APGA candidates, declaring them winners based on the highest votes cast by the electorate. Osakwe praised the citizens for their impressive turnout, expressing gratitude to security agencies for maintaining peace and order.
MEANWHILE, the Board of Trustees (BoT) of APGA, led by Chekwas Okorie, yesterday, called on the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, to swiftly swear in the newly elected chairmen and councillors.
The party also congratulated those who emerged as winners in the polls. The founder and pioneer National Chairman of the party, Okorie, stated this in its congratulations message. He said: “The Board of Trustees of APGA congratulates our victorious candidates at the recent local council election in Anambra State.
“It is with great joy that I congratulate, on behalf of the BoT of our great party, all the victorious chairmanship and councillorship candidates who resoundingly won the recently conducted local council elections in Anambra State.”
