The Bauchi State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed confidence in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the directive to re-collate votes cast in Tafawa Balewa Local Government during the governorship election.

The Bauchi State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed confidence in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the directive to re-collate votes cast in Tafawa Balewa Local Government during the governorship election.

The party’s state chairman, Alhaji Hamza Akuyam said the step taken by INEC to correct the issues surrounding the electoral process has been set right by the Committee sent from Abuja to investigate the matter.

Akuyam said: “We raised an alarm over the issue of the hiked cancelled votes in Ningi Local Government, which was initially put at 25, 330 but was actually 2,533. They have upheld that. Also, we cried out that Tafawa Balewa Local Government result shouldn’t be cancelled, as there was no violence or disruption at the polling units and it has ordered resumption of collation on that. We believe in INEC”. He, therefore, called for redeployment of the state’s Commissioner of Police, Ali Janga and DSS boss, as they were biased during the elections. He called on the party supporters to remain calm and let peace reign.
