CAN urges Edo electorate to vote peacefully on Saturday

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Edo State Chapter, yesterday, charged the people of the state, particularly the five blocks of CAN, to pray and seek the peace of God for the state ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
The leadership of CAN also prayed for peaceful conduct of the governorship election, urging the people to go out and cast their votes without fear on Election Day.
The Chairman of Edo CAN, Apostle Irekpono Omoike, led a special prayer session for the peaceful conduct of the election.
He assured that Edo State will have a peaceful election that will be judged free and fair, producing a God-fearing government and governor.
The Edo CAN Chairman appealed to all and sundry to come en masse and vote peacefully for the candidate of their choice, saying that voting for a God-fearing governor would guarantee peace and prosperity in Edo.
Other clerics, including the Chairman of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Edo State chapter, and General Overseer of the Family Intercessory Ministries in Benin, Pastor Margaret Oghosa Agbonifo, said that God has provided a peaceful atmosphere in the state.
She maintained that Saturday’s election will not end the lives of Edo people. “Edo people will not die because of the election. Those who planned to cause mayhem during the election will fail,” she said.
Agbonifo urged members of the Christian community in the state to be watchful and prayerful, as they go out to vote, adding: “We shall have a credible election in the state.”
On his part, Matthew Ogbonmwan said that the political atmosphere would be rancour free and devoid of violence, urging the people to go out and vote for the candidate of their choice on Saturday.
