GOMBE State Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo has urged members of the National Assembly to support President Muhammadu Buhari irrespective of party differences for him to succeed in transforming the country.

The governor made the call in Gombe when the Deputy Minority Whip of the National Assembly, Hajiya Fatima Bello, paid him a visit. According to him: “We need to give the President time to settle down.

We should not underrate the complex system of Nigeria; we are in a very complex society, which he needs to understand before executing the dividends he had promised. “Period of politicking has finished and all of us should rally round the President because today, God has ordained him as our leader, our president”, he added.

The governor, who said Bello, an indigene of Gombe representing Kaltungo/Shongom Federal Constituency has done well among all the members that represent the state in the National Assembly, said: “I am glad that most of the members that accompanied her are from the North/East sub-region of the country, It is a clear fact that North-East is the most backward region in terms of everything in the country.”

Dankwambo, while appealing to the members to use their position and bring development and greater achievement to the region, said this is the first time the zone is having a Speaker. Also speaking, Bello said they were in Gombe as northerners irrespective of party differences.

She described the governor as an achiever, commending him for the role he played that contributed to her emergence as a principal officer in the National Assembly. “We the PDP members will continue to rely on you so that we will regain our glory in 2019”, she said. She, therefore, assured the governor of their continued support and loyalty as PDP members.
