Delta lawmakers bow to party, reinstate Owhefere as Leader
One week after he was removed, Delta State lawmakers yesterday bow to the dictate of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and reinstated Mr. Tim Owhefere (Isoko North) as the Majority Leader of the House after the lifting of the three months suspension slammed on him by the House of Assembly.
At yesterday’s plenary presided over by Speaker Sheriff Oborevwori, Owhefere expressed profound gratitude to his colleagues for lifting the three months suspension.
The immediate past Speaker Monday Igbuya who was also suspended was pardoned but is now a floor member.
Owhefere particularly singled out Mr. Johnson Erijo (Isoko South 11) who was elected as Majority Leader in the wake of the recent change in the leadership of the House for the love and understanding.
He said that the issue was capable of heating up the polity not only in the state legislature but back home in Isokoland.
He congratulated Oborevwori for his emergence as the new Speaker.
Meantime, a bill to provide for a law to impose and collect through electronic fiscal device and electronic cash receipt, consumption tax on goods and services bought and consumed in hotels, restaurants and departmental stores and entertainment centers in the state, has passed first reading.
