Edo election: EFCC arrest vote buyers
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested some suspects for alleged vote buying in Egor LGa, around 10 am at the ongoing Edo governorship election.
The suspects (Two males and a female) were taken away by the Police and EFCC at the polling unit.
Some of the electorates could be heard challenging the security agencies against the arrest, that the suspects where being victimised.
The EFCC had on Friday said it was deploying operatives to monitor the election, vowing to maintain the integrity of the exercise.
“Our operatives have been deployed to monitor the conduct of the elections. We are committed to the attainment of electoral integrity by ensuring that voters cast their votes democratically without any form of financial inducement,” the agency’s spokesman, Dele Oyewale, said.

Seventeen candidates are battling for over 2.2 million votes across the 18 LGAs of Edo state.
