Voting has commenced at the Oredo Girls Secondary School in Benin City for the Edo State governorship election.

Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) arrived at the polling booth with four polling units at 8:10 am after which polling started at 8:30 am.

Officials of the Commission took time to explain to eligible voters the processes they must undergo to be able to vote.

One of the first persons who voted, Tony Omoigie, stated that it took him less than three minutes to be accredited and vote.

“It was seamless. I did not encounter any problems. I hope they will continue this way so that everyone can vote today,” he said.
