The Chairman of Etsako West Local Government Council in Edo State, Hon. Muhizu Zibiri Marvellous, on Wednesday, performed a groundbreaking and foundation laying ceremony for the remodeling of three markets in the locality,  Uchi, Ughele, and Jattu markets.

Muhizu, who spoke to newsmen, said the remodeling of these markets is a significant development that will positively impact the economic activities in the local government area.

He described the flag-off ceremony as a feat that is novel in the history of the local government, adding that the remodeling of the markets was the first phase in the locality pointing out that plans are on to remodel other markets to bring dividends of democracy to the people of the local government area.

The council boss noted that the initiative demonstrated his commitment to improve the living standards of the people in the local government area.

“I choose to uplift the state of the markets in the various communities to ensure that they are given a facelift for the benefit of our people,” he said.

He pointed out that through the strategic and people-centered initiatives of his administration, the council, in collaboration with one of the renowned developers, Aliade Engineering & Construction Company Limited,  entered into a public-private partnership to facilitate the timely execution of the remodeling of Ughele, Uchi and Jattu markets.

The chairman who assured that the same gesture will be extended to other communities before the expiration of his tenure in 2026, noted that his administration has taken a critical look at the abandoned projects in the local government council and would take appropriate and timely intervention to ensure that all such projects among those commenced last year are also timely completed including the markets projects.

He listed some projects completed by his administration, which include the abandoned Uchi Primary School and Alashio Primary Health Care Center.

He called on traditional rulers, critical stakeholders, youths, market men, and women to support the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration to attract more developments.
