Ekiti gives contractors ultimatum on projects

Ekiti State Government has issued a 3-week ultimatum to contractors handling the 2013 Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) projects to complete and hand over the projects.

The Chairman, MDGs State Implementation Committee, Chief Dipo Anisulowo gave the ultimatum during a review meeting of the second phase of MDGs project held with the contractors in Ado-Ekiti.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the attitude of some of the contractors, Anisulowo warned that government would not hesitate to sanction any erring contractor, stressing that the era of abandoned projects was over.

The Chairman emphasized that government required total commitment from its contractors and would continue to patronize only those who do their jobs remarkably well adding that the MDGs office would also pay only contractors that have completed their projects jobs satisfactorily.

Anisulowo advised contractors handling borehole projects to work hand in hand with the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA) in order to deliver standard jobs.

In his remarks, the Special Assistant to the Governor on MDGs, Prince Idowu Popoola stressed the importance of quality and timely job delivery by contractors.

He commended the contractor handling Iro Basic Health Centre in Moba Local government, urging other contractors to emulate him and deliver quality jobs.

Popoola also emphasized the need for all stakeholders to support the efforts of the present administration at delivering dividends of democracy to the people in the State, saying that every stakeholder has a role to play in order to achieve the desired result.

Secretary and MDGs State Focal person, Mr. James Owolabi charged the contractors to live up to their responsibilities and justify the 70% mobilization paid them stressing that it was imperative for them to deliver good quality jobs.

Speaking on behalf of other contractors, Mr. Adekunle Joshua expressed gratitude to the office of the MDGs and promised that they would all do good jobs and deliver as promised.
