Ekiti PDP guber aspirants back Fayose to re-contest in 2018

Some governorship aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Ekiti yesterday suspended their ambition pending the determination of a Supreme Court whether Governor Ayodele Fayose can re-contest the governorship position next year.

They also expressed their willingness to support Fayose if the Apex court determines the case in his favour. The aspirants also argued that Fayose had a good case as the Supreme Court had earlier dismissed his impeachment in 2006 as illegal.

The aspirants included the Deputy Governor Kolapo Olusola, Bisi Omoyeni, Sikiru Tae Lawal and Bisi Komolafe.A communique after their meeting in Ado Ekiti read in part: “That the Supreme Court in the case of APC versus PDP & ORS resolved that the first tenure of Governor Peter Ayodele Fayose was unlawfully terminated in a civilian coup-like manner and hence deserves redress.

“That we hereby urge and encourage Fayose to seek legal redress in the court of Law to recover the aborted mandate and allow him to contest the 2018 gubernatorial election.”
