Former governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has accepted the outcome of the party’s Edo South Senatorial Primary and called on his supporters to unite behind the APC and its candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement personally signed by him, Ize-Iyamu said the primary election held on May 18, 2026, had concluded the party’s democratic process and urged party members to embrace the outcome in the interest of unity and progress.
The APC chieftain, who addressed supporters after consultations with party leaders, members, women, youths and stakeholders within and outside the country, said he remained committed to the growth of the party despite the outcome of the contest.
“The APC Edo South Senatorial Primary held on May 18, 2026, has come to a close. Our party has completed its democratic process, and a candidate has emerged. I accept the decision of our party in good faith and appeal to all our members, followers and friends to do same,” he said.
Ize-Iyamu stressed that the APC’s collective interest should take precedence over personal ambitions, describing the ruling party as a platform founded on service, sacrifice and discipline.
He expressed appreciation to his supporters, coordinators, volunteers and grassroots mobilisers for their loyalty and commitment throughout the primary campaign.
“The All Progressives Congress is greater than any individual ambition. It is a platform built on service, sacrifice, discipline and our shared commitment to a better future for our people. Political contests may test our preferences, but they must never diminish our common purpose.
“To every supporter, coordinator, volunteer, grassroots mobiliser and everyone who stood with us throughout this journey, I offer my heartfelt appreciation. Your loyalty, sacrifices, encouragement and prayers have been a constant source of strength. I remain deeply grateful for your confidence and steadfast support,” he said.
The former governorship candidate also acknowledged the backing he received from Edo indigenes in the diaspora, assuring them of his continued commitment to the development of the senatorial district.
He urged party faithful to remain peaceful and avoid actions capable of creating divisions within the APC.
“I urge every one of you to remain peaceful, reject division and continue to uphold the values that have always defined our people.
“Now is the time to reconcile, close ranks and focus on the greater task before us. Our collective responsibility to serve the people of Edo South is far greater than any individual aspiration,” he added.
According to him, the focus should now shift from the primary contest to strengthening the APC and preparing for future electoral victories.
“As we move forward, I remain committed to working with our leaders, stakeholders and party faithful to strengthen the APC, secure victory in the general election and advance the development and well-being of Edo South Senatorial District.
“The contest is behind us. The future is before us. Let us move forward with one resolve and one commitment—to build a stronger APC and a more prosperous Edo South,” Ize-Iyamu said.
He urged party members and supporters to remain united and work together for the success of the APC, saying history would be defined not by political contests but by the collective achievements of the people.
“History will not remember the contest we fought; it will remember the future we built together. Let us unite. Let us serve. Let us win for the APC, for Edo South and for the people of Edo State,” he said.
