No fewer that 2,750 supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gagarawa and Kazaure local councils of Jigawa State have dumped the party for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

No fewer that 2,750 supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gagarawa and Kazaure local councils of Jigawa State have dumped the party for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Receiving the defectors at a PDP rally at Gagarawa, the Council Chairman, Babandi Gumel, described APC as a party of deceit with failed mission, whose lost focus plunged the country into serious confusion.

He cited insecurity, corruption, poverty and unemployment as the major areas the party failed the country due to lack of capacity to govern.

Gumel called on the defectors to be dedicated in promoting the good ideals of PDP in its quest to wrest the mantle of leadership from APC.

“We, in the PDP, have a formidable structure and mechanism on how best to move the country forward, based on our good principles and ideology, which we are confident are far above the thinking of the leaders of APC,” he said.

At the gathering, more than 1,870 card-carrying APC members comprising wards and local council leadership, along with their followers, dumped the ruling party, stressing their decision was based on the party’s failed mission and poor governance.

According to the spokesman to the defectors, Ibrahim Sambo, the APC lacked cohesion, party organisation, sincerity and good leadership.

In Kazaure also, more than 780 APC faithful announced their disengagement with APC and joined PDP, saying they embraced PDP of its structure, focus and organisations.

While receiving the defectors, a PDP chieftain and former federal lawmaker, Bashir Kazaure, called on politicians to fear God in the cause of their politicking.

“Let us play politics with open mind full of hard work, fear of God and honesty, with a clear conscience of embracing common unity, with patriotic zeal to move our country forward,” he said.
