The All Progressives Congress (APC), Ondo State chapter, has disclosed that the party will emerge victorious in the local government election on Saturday.
While stressing that the ruling party will not overlook any opposition party, the spokesperson of APC in the state, Alex Kalejaiye, stated that the feat achieved during the recent governorship election will be repeated in the poll.
Kalejaiye, who maintained that all aggrieved members have been reconciled, revealed that a committee headed by Charles Fagbounka has been set up to oversee and coordinate all campaigns across the 18 local government areas of the state.
Speaking during a press briefing ahead of Saturday’s election, the APC spokesperson said: “We have given directives to our leaders to meet and mobilize our members to visit churches and marketplaces to canvas for votes.
“We are fully prepared for the local government elections. Our campaigns are going on in the wards and local government areas. We are working and getting set for this exercise.”
“We never believe in buying votes. With what we have done and what we are doing, we believe the people will vote for us. We believe in decent campaigns. During the governorship election, we campaigned and won in all the local government areas.
“It is the people that should decide who will be their councillor and chairman. Our preoccupation is to win the election. According to ODIEC, 13 political parties are participating in the election. We are going to win.
“People voted for performance. We never believed in buying votes. With what we have done for the people, we know they wouldn’t have any problem voting for the APC.
“We started by sensitizing our members. We have committees, and they have been working in various wards and units. The committees have been working. We are not just starting campaigns.
“In every civilized society, the essence of paying tax is to make life good for the people. APC is committed to utilising the results properly for the betterment of the people. If people pay tax and see the justification in terms of infrastructure, they will be happy.”
