The Labour Party has reaffirmed its commitment to deepening democracy, strengthening internal unity, and pursuing reforms that will advance Nigeria’s development.
This resolution came during a high-powered virtual stakeholders’ meeting on Thursday, August 7, 2025, where party leaders and key figures across the country reviewed recent political developments and charted a path forward.
Senior Special Adviser (Media) to the Interim National Chairman, Ken Eluma Asogwa, in a statement, indicated that participants passed a strong vote of confidence in Senator Nenadi Usman, praising her stewardship as Interim National Chairman and lauding her efforts to keep the party focused and united.
The meeting drew an impressive line-up of party heavyweights, including 2023 presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi; Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti; Interim National Secretary, Senator Darlington Nwokocha; Lagos 2023 governorship candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour; Deputy National Chairmen, Mohammed Usman Misau and Prof. Theophilus Ndubuaku.
Others included Deputy Governor of Abia State, HE Ikechukwu Emetu; Senators Victor Umeh and Okey Ezea; former acting National Chairman, Mrs. Maria Labeke; Lagos State Interim Chairman, Rotimi Odunaike; former NBA President, Mr. Olumide Akpata; BOT member, PA Lawson Osagie; as well as representatives of the NLC, TUC, and other critical stakeholders.
At the end of deliberations, the party reiterated that internal cohesion, democratic consolidation, and national development remain its top priorities as it positions itself for the challenges ahead.
