Ondo state based groups have lauded the nomination of Prof Omoleye Daramola as minister by President Muhammadu Buhari, describing the appointment as a welcome development.

The groups, Congress for Rights of Ondo Southern Nationalities (CROSN), Assembly for Protection of Ondo Agenda (APOA), and Movement for the Survival of the Underprivileged (MOSUP) pledged their support to the president and urged him to return the nation to the path of steady progress

In a statement yesterday by the Secretary General of CROSN, Mr. Tunde Ayenumelo, the group lauded the President for nominating Daramola as a Federal minister to represent Ondo State in his cabinet.

Ayenumelo vouched for the credibility of the nominee, Daramola, whom he described as “a man of a very fine genius, moral standing, astute, dependable, and has a very high pedigree as a public figure, academic and party man.”

According to him: “He is a detribalized Nigerian, whose experience cuts across all the geo-political zones of this country, having schooled and worked in the Northern part successfully despite his southern background.”

CROSN declared its support for his nomination and expressed the unflinching approval of the whole of the Southern Senatorial District, where the nominee hails from, for his appointment as their representative in the federal cabinet.

APOA noted that Ondo State has never had the opportunity to have such a laudable expert, technocrat and resourceful individual to represent the State as minister.

The National Coordinator of APOA, Mr Henry Olatujoye, in a statement remarked that the appointment of Daramola as a Federal Minister is “a round peg in a round hole.”

He emphasized that the presence of someone of Daramola’s calibre in Buhari’s cabinet will further the anti-corruption crusade and ensure positive change in the lives of the citizenry.

His words: “For the fact that he did not lobby for the post but was fished out like a golden fish that has no hiding place in the river, every well meaning and reasonable citizen of Ondo State declares his/her unflinching support for him.
“Daramola is our candidate, and the whole of Ondo State is solidly behind him for the ministerial appointment,” Olatujoye said.
