Group chides governor over poor state of hospitals

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has passed a vote of confidence on Governor Abiola Ajimobi and the party chairman, Chief Akin Oke.

The Group described them as good political players whose wealth of experience and managerial acumen facilitated the victory recorded by the APC in the last general elections in the state.

In another development, a group, Change Agent Movement has admonished Ajimobi to stop paying lip service to the health sector and makes the State General Hospitals to perform optimally The APC in a statement by its Director of Publicity and Strategy, Olawale Sadare, the party denied alleged internal crisis stating that the ‘rumour’ was the handiwork of some uniformed elements.

According to the statement; “the well attended executive session was the first in the last few months and it reviewed a number of critical issues such as consideration of the reports of the last general elections as well as those of the committees set up to recommend appropriate disciplinary actions for erring members including some members of the National Assembly.

The meeting lauded the pro-active steps taken by Ajimobi and the State Working Committee of the party which were enough to resolve the leadership crisis that threatened the smooth inauguration of the 8th Oyo State House of Assembly.

The steps prevented what could have thrown the state into another round of intractable in fighting in the legislative chamber. “Also, the executive session endorsed the plan to move the party Secretariat to a more befitting but temporary location at Oke-Ado pending the completion of its ultra-modern permanent office which is under construction.

The idea of the new office complex was to secure more space for all officials to function fully from their respective offices.”

The Change Agent Movement in a statement signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the Organisation, Messrs Abolaji Adeosun and Malik Adehun said the energy dissipated to build ABC clinic, should be used to turn around the health sector in the state.

According to the group, “It is worrisome that the General Hospitals in the state are in bad state while the private clinic of the wife of the governor, ABC, is being adjudged as one of the best in the country by its proprietor.

This ABC clinic was constructed during the first term of the governor in office with the claim that it was privately funded with monies sourced from both local and international support groups.
