The Oyo State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), on Tuesday, criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC) for describing the protest staged by its members over the approval of a N300b loan request by Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State as an act of irresponsibility.
It should be noted that the State House of Assembly, presided over by Adebo Ogundoyin, approved the N300bn loan requested by the governor during its plenary last month. The lawmaker representing Saki West state constituency, Ibrahim Shittu, challenged the claimed passage of the loan request. Shittu argued that there was neither a plenary session as believed nor the required 2/3 members in attendance. This led the APC to stage a protest on Monday.
Reacting to the protest, the acting Publicity Secretary of the PDP in the state. Michael Ogunsina said the protest further confirmed the members of the APC as a bunch of jobless people.
Ogunsina said, “The protest was sponsored by the unscrupulous elements. The outcome is inconsequential. If the protesters are in need of jobs, they should not hesitate to apply to the Oyo State government. If Tinubu has failed in the provision of jobs, the Oyo State government will not fail at ensuring that they are gainfully employed.
“How can reasonable beings wake up in the morning and decide to roam the streets? Definitely, something is wrong with the members of the APC in Oyo State.
“Governor Makinde and the lawmakers are in order with the request and approval of the N300b loan. We, the entire PDP family, are in total support of the various policies of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration.”
