The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State has nominated the Zonal Youth Leader of the party, Goodluck Chidiebere Egwu, as the replacement for the expelled South-East National Vice Chairman of the party, Mr Ali Odefa.

In a letter addressed to the Acting National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Illiya Damagun, and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Adolphus Wabara, the party hinged the nomination of Egwu on the expulsion of Odefa for a plethora of anti-party activities.

Recall that a Federal High Court sitting in Abakaliki had upheld the initial suspension of Odefa by the ward executive of the PDP, Oguduokwor Ward, in Onicha Local Council.

Following his earlier suspension, the Oguduokwor Ward Disciplinary Committee, after hearing the allegations levelled against Odefa, recommended the expulsion of the former zonal chairman of the party.

On December 12, 2024, the executives of PDP, Oguduokwor Ward, announced the summary expulsion of Odefa. PDP leaders in Ebonyi State unanimously endorsed the replacement of Odefa.

The letter nominating Egwu has been submitted to the Acting National Chairman, the National Secretary, the Chairman of the BoT, and the Chairman of the PDP Governor’s Forum, among others.
