Rivers PDP to Tinubu: Intervene, order release of Rivers’ allocation

The Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged President Bola Tinubu to use his presidential powers, in spite of the Supreme Court judgment, to ensure that the federal government allocation meant for Rivers State is not seized.
The State Working Committee of the party, loyal to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, made the call in Port Harcourt on Monday, warning that stopping the federal allocations to the state is a call to anarchy, which, according to them, means shutting down governance in the state and denying citizens, including civil servants, their livelihoods.
Speaking, Acting Chairman of the PDP in Rivers, Nname Robinson Ewor, urged President Tinubu to emulate President Donald Trump, who demonstrated a great gesture in the United States when the Supreme Court ruled that TikTok be banned. Trump intervened using presidential powers, stressing that today, TikTok is operating in the United States of America.
He further implored the President to advise his appointees to stop the weaponisation of federal agencies, including the judiciary, against Rivers State, asserting that the war against Rivers is “state-sponsored.”
“There is enough insecurity in the country; there is no point in creating one in our dear peaceful state, Rivers State,” said the PDP chieftain.
He, however, urged Martins Amaewhule and the 26 other lawmakers to embrace peace, stating that peace is the only path to progress.

“We urge the lawmakers to work towards the full implementation of the Supreme Court judgment, including playing a key role in the forthcoming Local Government election, accepting the representation of the 2025 Appropriation Bill (Budget) by the Governor, scheduled for Wednesday, March 19, 2025, and dropping or withdrawing the impeachment notice against the Governor and his Deputy,” Ewor stated.
The Acting State Chairman attributed the cause of all the political crises to former Governor Nyesom Wike, threatening that the PDP would suspend or expel the FCT Minister, depending on the gravity of his offences.
He said, “The FCT Minister has taken several actions that have brought the party into disrepute, amounting to anti-party activity. The party will take action at the appropriate time. We have layers and organs of the Party. And you know the challenge Wike created for us in this state. Today, we have properly taken over the party. Action will be taken against Wike for anti-party activity, including suspending him where necessary or expelling him from the party if it is necessary. The party will do that under our watch in the state.”
He further called on the Minister to ensure there is peace in Rivers State and guarantee a good working relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government, which he once enjoyed in his eight years as Governor of Rivers State.
Ewor encouraged party supporters and the people of Rivers to continue maintaining peace, saying, “Peace brings progress.”
