Former Kano State Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau, has expressed willingness to join forces with the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the 2023 poll, Dr. Musa Kwankwaso, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Besides, Shekarau declared that he bore no grudge against the leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement despite their political differences that tore both gladiators apart in the past.

The former Minister of Education, who joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before the 2023 polls, recently co-founded a League of Northern Democrats (LND) to float another political front.

It was not clear whether the strategic advancement towards Kwankwaso is part of LND’s new political move, as the Shekarau-led new body has in, recent times strengthened consultation with several key political figures across the federation.

He explained that their political disagreements stemmed from structural injustices within party politics rather than personal grievances or animosity.

The ex-governor recounted how Kwankwaso was allegedly allocated a disproportionate share of leadership roles during the formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State.

Shekarau, who also represented Kano Central in the Senate, underscored fairness and justice in political arrangements.

He affirmed that he and Kwankwaso can still sit together, and discuss matters amicably.

He expressed confidence in their ability to unite under a common cause if necessary.
