Sahara Reporters’ founder, Omoyele Sowore, has addressed a packed crowd of his supporters and well-wishers in a town hall meeting at the Stratford campus of the University of East London, calling to question President Muhammadu Buhari’s integrity.

According to Sowore, who has already thrown his hat into the ring for next year’s presidential election, Buhari has “surrounded himself with thieves,” more than his predecessor, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.

Speaking amid intermittent chants of “Take it back, take it back,” Sowore said: “Nobody can come with a fake integrity and fool us. It’s not happening anymore.

We must usher in a new era. Buhari has failed the poor north.”

He told the audience that the reason “the poor northerners voted for Buhari was because they thought he could lift them out of poverty.”

But Buhari, he noted is not only deceiving Nigerians, but has presented “himself again.” Poking fun at the President’s constant travel to London, Sowore said: “Whenever the man has toothache, he comes to London. When he wants to brush his teeth, he comes to London.”

Sowore, who disclosed he has held similar town hall meetings in Kaduna and Kano, stated: “Half of Kaduna, southwest and southsouth and southeast are not voting for Buhari again. Southeasterners want a Nigeria where they can do their business.”
