The Agbu Kefas Continuity Movement has criticized recent comments made by the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator Abubakar Tutare, describing his remarks as politically motivated and lacking a convincing alternative vision for Taraba State ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
In a statement issued on Monday and signed by its Coordinator, Mallam Ibrahim Ardo, the group said a recent video by the former senator reflected “frustration” rather than leadership, alleging that his political campaign was driven by personal ambition.
The movement noted that Senator Tutare, who has served as a member of the Taraba State House of Assembly, commissioner, Secretary to the State Government, and senator, had several opportunities to make a lasting impact during his years in public office.
According to the group, despite his extensive political experience, the former lawmaker’s recent criticism of the current administration was not supported by evidence of significant achievements during his own time in government.
The statement also rejected Tutare’s assessment of the state’s performance, insisting that the administration of Governor Agbu Kefas has recorded notable achievements in education, payment of retirees’ gratuities, completion of abandoned projects, and improvements in security.
It further alleged that the ADC candidate’s comments suggested a preference for governance focused on rewarding political associates rather than serving the broader public interest.
The group cautioned against what it described as a return to patronage politics and urged residents to reject any attempt to revive such a system.
On security, the movement maintained that the state has witnessed measurable improvements under the current administration, contrasting the present situation with previous years when insecurity restricted movement in parts of the state.
The group challenged Senator Tutare to complement his criticism with what it described as a practical and superior blueprint for governance, particularly on security and development.
Reaffirming its support for governor Agbu Kefas, the movement said the 2027 governorship election should be decided on the basis of “results versus rhetoric” and “progress versus regression,” adding that the governor remains the most credible candidate to sustain the state’s development.
The statement concluded by cautioning against what it described as “fear-driven and grievance-based politics,” urging that Taraba’s future should be shaped by inclusive development rather than personal political interests.
