Taraba Bye-election: APC appoints Yari, Kalu, others as campaign council members

Ahead of Saturday’s legislative bye-elections in Karim 1, Taraba State constituency election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed former Zamfara State Governor, Sen. Abdulaziz Yari, as chairman of the campaign council.

Also appointed as co-chairmen of the campaign council were Hajiya Imam Sulaoman-Ibrahim, Senators Sani Musa, Orji Uzor Kalu, Kaka Shehu and Jim Kuta. Professor Suwaiba Saidu Ahmad is to serve as Secretary of the council.

The aforementioned are part of a 60-member National Campaign Council for the election, charged with the responsibility of ensuring the party’s success at the polls.

The appointment of the 60-member council was announced in a statement by the APC National Vice Chairman (North East), Comrade Mustapha Salihu, and the Deputy National Women Leader, Hajiya Zainab Ibrahim.

The statement reads: “Ahead of the August 16, Karim 1 Taraba State Assembly Constituency bye-election to be conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the All Progressives Congress (APC) announces the underlined ad members of the party’s National Campaign Council.”

Other members of the council include the Minister of Health, Prof. Mohammed Ali Pate, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Olajumoke Oduwole, Minister of Defence, Badaru Abubakar, former Governor Jolly Nyame, former Lagos State deputy governor. Sen. Idiat Oluranti, Minister of State, Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu and Minister of State, Labour and Productivity, Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha.
