To supporters Tinubu, a Yoruba Muslim, is a wily political operator with a passion for getting the job done and a knack for picking bright, committed technocrats to do it. To critics he is a ruthless godfather who doles out lucrative contracts to his friends' firms, insists on installing his man in office and is capable of sending in street thugs if he fails to get his way. A member of the Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council, Lanre Razak, has expressed that Bola Tinubu is eminently qualified to chair the presidential campaign council of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Razak, a former Commissioner for Public Transportation in Lagos State, who spoke to newsmen yesterday in Epe, said Tinubu’s vast experience in electioneering, pan Nigeria goodwill and organisational prowess, qualify him for the role.

He urged the re-election campaign of President Muhammadu Buhari to be headed by an experienced and outstanding party man with impeccable pedigree in the likes of Tinubu because of the high stakes involved.

He also made a case for the re-appointment of Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, to continue as the director-general of the campaign council. This, he, said was necessary given his sterling performance in the 2015 presidential election.

Razak, who is a former Commissioner for Public Transportation in Lagos State, added: “Called on the national leadership of the APC to ignore the campaign of calumny against Tinubu and APC chairman, Adams Oshiomhole by a few disgruntled governors and other stakeholders. He said Tinubu’s appointment would make the APC to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party and other opposition groups.
