A faction of the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has announced the suspension of former Deputy National Chairman of the party, Bode George, and 23 other members over alleged anti-party activities.

The suspension was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the Chairman of the party’s disciplinary committee in Lagos State, Kayode Ogunbiyi, and the committee’s Secretary, Desmond Agbo.

According to the statement, the disciplinary committee resolved to suspend the affected members after concluding that their actions were capable of causing division and disaffection within the party.

The committee said the decision was reached during its meeting held on May 26, 2026, where it reviewed several petitions alleging anti-party activities and violations of the PDP constitution by some members.

“The decision to suspend George and other erring members was contained in the resolution of the meeting held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, where various petitions were presented against certain notable personalities and other members bordering on issues of anti-party activities and deliberate infractions of the PDP Constitution,” the statement said.

The committee further disclosed that it revisited an earlier disciplinary action reportedly taken against George by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) and reaffirmed the decision.

“The Committee also reviewed the action previously taken against former Chief Olabode George by the National Executive Committee, which suspended him from the party, and reaffirmed that he remains suspended as earlier pronounced,” the statement added.

Other members affected by the suspension include Aduke Maina, Abimbola Ogunkelu, Laja Adeoye, Tunji Shele, Sunday Olaifa, Gbenga Adegbesan, Rita Orji, Kofoworola Bucknor and Onikepo Oshodi, among others.

The disciplinary committee stated that it also examined cases involving members allegedly collaborating with rival political parties or participating in unauthorised political activities considered detrimental to the interests of the PDP in Lagos State.

It said the suspended members would no longer be permitted to participate in party activities within the state or represent the PDP in any official or unofficial capacity during the period of their suspension.

The committee further warned that legal action could be initiated against any of the suspended members if they engage in activities deemed contrary to the interests of the party in Lagos State.

The development marks the latest chapter in the lingering internal crisis within the Lagos PDP, which has witnessed factional disagreements and leadership disputes in recent years.
