You’re unqualified to accuse Tinubu of nepotism, Sani tells El-Rufai
Former lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has criticised the immediate past Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, over recent comments on alleged issues of nepotism at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
The senator, who represented Kaduna Central in the Eight National Assembly, yesterday took a swipe on the former governor, saying El-Rufai should not be taken seriously because he could not criticised his kinsman, President Muhammadu Buhari, when he was involved nepotism, while in office for eight years.
Sani replied El-Rufai’s comments via his social media handle on alleged issues of nepotism at NNPCL against President Tinubu. Sani, via his X handle, wrote: “There were people who were silent when Buhari was filling political offices with his kinsmen, and have now found their voices to speak out when the equation doesn’t favour them.
“Let’s not make reference to the nepotism that marginalised Southern Kaduna for eight years. Kaduna was an apartheid state for eight years,” he said. According to Sani, anyone can talk or criticise President Tinubu on issues of alleged lopsided appointments or nepotism, but certainly not El-Rufai.
Meanwhile, a U.S.-based Nigerian professor of journalism, Farooq Kperogi, has accused Tinubu of governing Nigeria with a Lagos mindset.According to the scholar, Tinubu chose to dominate the economy with people from the South-West the way former President Muhammadu Buhari loaded the security sector with northerners during his administration. In response, El-Rufai later shared Kperogi’s post on his X handle, saying: “Two wrongs don’t make a right.
