The state’s Commissioner for Lands, Physical Planning & Rural Development, Prof. Ofornze Amuchanze, said the system will be fully digitised by the end of this year, which is in line with Governor Charles Soludos’ vision of achieving a livable and prosperous homeland for citizens.

Speaking at a two-day “Performance Management And Appraisal System workshop for Anambra State Ministry of Lands, the state Commissioner for Lands, Physical planning and Rural Development, Prof Ofornze Amucheazi, SAN, said that the GIS will ensure land owners obtain their Certificate of Occupancy (C of O)within 72 hours.

The workshop held in Awka, the Anambra state capital, was organised by the Ministry of Lands, in collaboration with Ubosi Eleh+Company and Mctimothy Associates consulting LLC.

Amucheazi said: “We have commenced implementation of the GIS, which is aimed at improving efficiency, effectiveness of land administration and other related land matters.

“It will enhance online land transactions and is expected to be concluded by the end of 2024. All the activities are aimed at turning Anambra state into a progressive state in the Southeast region.”

He disclosed that the programme is the first in a series of training for the 120 staff in the ministry, and assured that it would be a continuous process, while urging the participants to take advantage of the training programme.

Also speaking, the Head, Human Resources Department, Ubosi Eleh and Company, Angela Oputa, explained that the training will enhance work attitude and output of staff in the ministry.

She charged participants to be attentive and apply all the knowledge gained to improve their skills on the job.

A facilitator at the event, Mr. Tayo Oluwole, said management performance components include, key performance indicators, tracking progress and providing feedback.

“Management performance is about setting targets and goals, which includes job analysis, reward and recognition, performance appraisal, disciplinary process, learning development and succession planning. They all make your system produce reward and recognition.

“Performance cycle begins with planning, implementing, and controlling processes. Performance evaluation is also used to identify the lapses in output quality and then determine what needs to be enhanced.

“When seeking goals, you raise the bars, so that if not realised, people concerned will sit up to meet with the target. Where there was under performance, the challenge would be to reverse the trend through the right corrective actions,” Oluwole noted.

Participants commended the state government for organising the workshop, insisting that it has added to whatever knowledge and experience gained before on the job.

An estate surveyor, Mr. Anthony Idego, said the workshop will improve the quality, work performance and output in the various departments, and suggested that the workshops be organised regularly to expose staff on modern trends globally.
