Engineers, firm partner on capacity building for professionals

The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) Ikeja branch has established a partnership with Vita Construction to equip professionals with the practical skills required to tackle emerging construction sector challenges.

The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) Ikeja branch has established a partnership with Vita Construction to equip professionals with the practical skills required to tackle emerging construction sector challenges.

Speaking at a recent technical visit by branch members to the firm, the Chairman of the branch, Mrs Nimot Muili, explained that the collaboration offers an opportunity to expose practitioners to practical knowledge in construction, and bridge the gap between academia and industry.

Muili highlighted that exposure to firsthand precision engineering, health and safety standards, and sustainable construction practices will deepen practitioners’ knowledge. She lauded the firm’s leadership in innovation, capacity building and commitment to the development of the construction sector in the country.

“This visit exemplifies our mission to foster professional development among engineers. The collaboration underscores both organisations’ commitment to advancing capacity development and innovation in the engineering sector. We are excited about the benefits such collaborations offer in advancing the engineering profession and promoting sustainable development in Nigeria,” Muili said.

The chairman reiterated the branch’s commitment towards creating opportunities that enable its members to stay at the forefront of engineering excellence and ensure impactful solutions across the country.

The Steel Workshop Manager at Vita Construction, Spyros Yiangou, demonstrated steel fabrication processes, from material selection to final assembly, wood processing and cutting-edge techniques used in making modern furniture, and soundproof doors. The construction firm pledged to support the training of young engineers, offering opportunities for hands-on experience and professional growth.
