The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN) has reaffirmed its commitment to corporate governance, sustainability, and green energy through its ongoing building project.

The institute made this affirmation at the foundation-laying ceremony of its new facility within the Alausa Central Business District (CBD).

The new ICSAN building project aims to set a benchmark for sustainable infrastructure while reinforcing the institute’s role in shaping the future of corporate governance and administration in Nigeria.

ICSAN President and Chairman of the Governing Council, Funmi Ekundayo, emphasised the institute’s dedication to creating an environmentally friendly and sustainable structure.

According to her, the new building will not only serve as a hub for training governance professionals but will also enhance the landscape of the Alausa CBD.

“This will be the largest building by any institute within this facility, and we are very proud of that. We are confident that the Lagos State Government will also be proud to have such a landmark structure within proximity to the government office,” Ekundayo stated.

She further highlighted that the project has been in the planning stages for several administrations, with serious efforts to commence construction dating back about six years. Despite initial challenges, including setbacks caused by unreliable partners, the institute remained steadfast in its vision.

The project, estimated at ₦3.5 billion, will be funded through a series of fundraising events, member contributions, and support from well-wishers and stakeholders.

“Our fundraising ceremony is scheduled for April 14 in Abuja, with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Olayemi Cardoso, serving as the chairman. We are also expecting the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Nyesom Wike, and the Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Olawale Edun, among other distinguished guests,” she announced.

Ekundayo expressed confidence that with continued support, ICSAN would successfully deliver the project within the shortest possible time.

“The foundation-laying ceremony follows the symbolic groundbreaking event held on July 5, 2024, which marked the beginning of the project. Since then, significant progress has been made, including securing demolition permits and clearing the old structure,” she added.
