Four firms bag Anambra govt’s road reconstruction contracts

Four building and civil engineering firms have been awarded road reconstruction contracts by the Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC).

The projects approved include construction of Premier Road, Onitsha, Awka – Umuenechi Village – Ifite Nibo – Isiagu, Miss Elems Road and Port Harcourt Street both in Onitsha. The contractors are Alitho Nig. Ltd, J. Quarison Int’l Limited, Ferotex Construction Company and Mashuchun International Limited.

The state’s Commissioner for Information, Sir Paul Nwosu in Awka, said the aim of road projects is to realise governments’ dreams to elevate status and beautify the state to international standards, as well as make the state a livable and prosperous megacity.

Continuing, he disclosed that ANSEC approved release of N118,815,005.96 for the construction of Premier Road, Onitsha, which contract was awarded to Alitho Nigeria Limited for a completion period of four weeks.

“ANSEC also approved the release of the sum of N1, 850,000,000, being the Revised Estimated Total Cost (RETC) for the construction of Ukwuorji Awka – Umuenechi Village – Ifite Nibo – Isiagu Road with a 2.1km Spur to Zik Avenue”, he said.

“ANSEC also approved the release of N1, 850,000,000, being RETC for the construction of Ukwuorji Awka – Umuenechi Village – Ifite Nibo – Isiagu Road with a 2.1km Spur to Zik Avenue.

“The Ukwuorji Awka- Umuenechi village-Ifite Nibo-Isiagu road contract was awarded to J. Quarison Int’l Limited with a completion period of five months.”

The Commissioner further disclosed that the reconstruction of Port Harcourt Street, Onitsha was equally accented to at the sum of N1.8 billion for the reconstruction of Port Harcourt Street, Onitsha.

According to him, the contract was awarded to Ferotex Construction Company with a completion period of five months.

He also said Miss Elems Road, Onitsha was awarded for reconstruction at the sum of N430,381,386.39. Nwosu added that the contract was awarded to Mashuchun International Ltd, with a completion period of three months.
