Lagos HOMS plans different products to increase beneficiaries

Buoyed by the seeming success being achieved in housing delivery in the state, Lagos Homs board management has set to introduce different products that would attract more ownership in the metropolis.

Speaking on the backdrop of the last draw where 42 beneficiaries took possession of their homes, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of LagosHoms board, Mr. Akinola Kojo Sagoe, said the new administration is poised to increase housing delivery in the state by introducing more products that would be at the reach of different categories of people who need accommodation.

According to Sagoe, the board is being saddled with responsibility of meting the housing needs of the people in conjunction with other relevant ministries and agencies and we are determined to carry out the assignment in a most transparent and efficient manner.

“In view of the growing population in Lagos and continued demands for accommodation, all hands are on deck to ensure that we do our best”.

The CEO stated that in the May edition of the Lagos HOMS public draw organized by the Lagos Mortgage Board has produced 42 new homeowners. He said since inception of the scheme in March 2014, it has lived up to its expectation as over 400 winners who have completed the necessary documentation have successfully been handed the keys to their respective apartments.

For the May draw, 80 applications were received, 60 people were pre-qualified and 20 applications were declined due to improper documentation. Also, about 12 schemes were made available for the draw which include; Alhaja Adetoun Mustapha and Hon. Olaitan Mustapha Estate in Ojokoro, Hon Sontonwa and Oba Adeboruwa Estate in Ikorodu, Sir Michael Otedola Estate in Epe, Chief Anthony Enahoro Estate (1&2) in Ogba, Igando Gardens in Alimosho, Chios Gardens in Lekki Ajah, Mushin Scheme and Sangotedo in Ajah.

He also hinted that schemes such as Chief Anthony Enahoro Housing Scheme (1&2) in Ogba, Ilupeju Scheme and the Oba Lateef Adams Estate in Iloro are fully occupied and that works are on-going in 26 different sites across the state and they include; Omole Phase 1& 2, Oko-Oba in Agege, Ajara in Badagry just to mention a few.
He enjoined residents to be on the lookout for the Omole Scheme 1&2 which will be up for application in the next two months.

The special Adviser, Project Implementation and Monitoring Unit, Mr Suliaman Alabi Yusuf at the occasion said government will ensure continuity of the project. He urged more people to apply.

Yusuf also emphasized that work was ongoing in 26 new sites in various part of the State, advising residents to consider proximity of the scheme they apply for to their place of work to facility convenience and comfort.
