New multi-purpose centre, office space open in Akure
The new building has 400 capacity multi-purpose hall, syndicate rooms and ICT room and was commissioned recently during the institution’s 60th Anniversary by the Federal Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD), Chief Audu Ogbeh.
The ITCC, which is equipped to taste, will provide effective learning and teaching facilities through its structures, while the guest house will solve accommodation problems and offer comfort for the trainees and resources persons.
Other projects that were also commissioned included a cassava processing complex, veterinary clinic, tree crop processing centre and an adjoining guest house to the ITCC with 10 rooms.
The Provost of the college, Dr. Samson Adeola Odedina, saidthat the new multi-million naira projects will provide maximum support for value chain opportunity and training programmes of the institution.
Odedina told The Guardian as part of the round-off activities to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee anniversary of the college.
According to him, the college, as the initiator of value chain opportunities in the country, especially in bio-fortified Vitamin A maize and cassava, will utilize the resources to combat unemployment among the youths.
The Provost noted these new facilities will further boost the process of exposing graduates and investors to the emerging agricultural value chain opportunities in cassava production, cassava processing enterprise and value addition.
He said they would also assist youths who are exploring the massive employment opportunities in aquaculture, poultry, agricultural mechanisation, contract farming; and many that engage in it as a profession and business.
