DELIGHTED at the pace of the project, the Ondo State Government has renewed its pledge to deliver an international event centre, popularly referring to as “The Dome”, in not-too-distant future.

Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, has submitted that at the completion of the event centre, The Dome will become the number one tourism corridor in the country.

According to a release signed by the Ondo State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Kayode Akinmade, Governor Mimiko hinted that The Dome, situated in Akure, the state capital, with other existing tourism facilities in the state will automatically enhance the status of Ondo, promising that, even center would soon be completed.

The Governor while conducting an inspection tour of the facility along Igbatoro road    in company with his deputy, Alhaji Lasisi Oluboyo and other members of the state executive said the project has reached 80 percent completion stage and will soon be completed and open for use.

He expressed satisfaction at the level of the job so far done at the project site and its quality, assuring that the centre when completed would be a global event centre and number one event destination in Nigeria.

“I am expressing optimism that the event centre, by virtue of its location that is close to the new Akure Shopping Mall, would have positive effects on the socio-economic condition in the State.

“The Shopping mall with Shoprite as the anchor tenant is just a stone throw from here and there is also a five-star hotel coming up in that premises.

“Down the road to Idanre, we have the world-class mountain resort and we have two major golf courses within this axis. The Elizade Golf Course, Smoking Hills and the Atosin Golf Course, all along this corridor”, said Mimiko, adding that what Ondo is projecting is a tourism location that is second to none Nigeria.
