Winifred Oyo-Ita hands over keys to subscribers of FISH programme

The Head of Service of the Federation, Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita has presented keys to 32 subscribers of the Federal Integrated Staff Housing (FISH) programme in Abuja.

The Head of Service of the Federation, Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita has presented keys to 32 subscribers of the Federal Integrated Staff Housing (FISH) programme in Abuja.

Over 55,000 civil servants have so far subscribed to the FISH programme initiated in 2016. Out of which only 32 formerly received keys to their houses.

Speaking at the ceremony, the head of service appealed to civil servants who subscribed to the scheme to be patient as more developers from states and the private sector are being mobilised to build more houses.

Mrs. Oyo-Ita said, ”What we are celebrating today is the delivery of not just houses, handbooks and website but a success story of a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiative aimed at enhancing partnership between government agencies and the private sector”.

According to her, government has signed a Memorandum of Understating (MOU) with 33 Real Estate Developers as construction of new homes are in different stages in different parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and some states across the federation.

The housing Estates includes, the FISH Estate Kuje 1 comprising of Blocks of Flats of 65 Units made up one, two and three bedrooms. She stated that the project was constructed by C2Q Nigeria Limited with loans provided by the federal government Staff Housing Loans Board.

The FISH Estate, Kuje 11, comprises 86 units of two bedroom bungalows constructed and financed by the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria.
Oyo-Ita said that the FISH programme is designed to be implemented as an inter-governmental, inter-ministerial and public- private partnership project with active collaboration with some state government and federal agencies such as the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing, Water Resources and the Federal Capital Territory.

She said, ”On the inter- Ministerial level, the OHCSF has strategic funding partnership with the federal government staff housing loans board, federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria and Family Homes Funds for the provision of Off-taker supportive finance in form of loans and Mortgage finance to civil servants for the purchase of the houses on the programme at a single digit interest rate”.

At the event, three hand books on FISH programme was launched.Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, office of the HOS, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack expressed gratitude to the beneficiaries, staff and civil servants who are yet to be given their house for exercising patience with the government.
