Following the release of the remix of his exciting single, Koni Baje, with Rotimi and the high-energy anthem As I Wake Up, rapper, singer, and songwriter, Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, better known by his stage name Skales (an acronym for Seek Knowledge Acquire Large Entrepreneurial Skills), has come through with another single, Don’t Say Much, from his forthcoming EP, titled, Proof of Life.

Speaking about the new single, the singer, whose house was recently invaded by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), said the song mirrors his ambition and unshakable self-confidence.

“The story is really the story of work and keep it short, just get your things done and you know that your way is always supreme, you know whatever you believe is great for yourself. Should be what you’re focused on instead of living your whole dreams and following somebody else,” he shared on his social handle, X, formerly Twitter.

Produced by David Acekeyz, Don’t Say Much arrives as the ultimate precursor to the Je ko mo crooner’s eagerly awaited Proof of Life EP, scheduled for release this month.

The upcoming EP, Skales said will reflect his artistic journey as a resilient artiste who has continued to stay relevant despite the many challenges he faced. “The EP would also showcase the versatility with which I have effortlessly explored various musical genres,” he added.

Skales’ foray into music started in 2000, when he began writing rap songs in his home state, Kaduna. Between 2007 and 2008, he travelled to Jos to work with Jesse Jagz and Jeremiah Gyang, and in 2008, he entered the Zain Tru Search competition and won the competition’s North Central region.

His debut single, Must Shine, received numerous spins on radio stations in Lagos, Jos and Abuja with Rhythm FM stations playing a major role. He later relocated to Lagos and signed a record deal with Bankole Wellington, aka Banky W, owned Empire Mates Entertainment (E.M.E) in 2009.

Skales has collaborated with numerous artistes, including global pop icon Akon, ELDee, Tekno, Harmonize, Jeremiah Gyang, Banky W., and Knighthouse. His well-known songs include, Shake Body, Mukulu, Keresimesi, Komole, My Baby, Take Care of Me and Denge Pose. After leaving E.M.E in May 2014, he set up the independent OHK Music record label, where he released his debut studio album, Man of the Year, in 2015.
