Ota community in Ogun State was in frenzy mood recently, as the production crew for Fuji T’o Bam stormed the area to select talents that would join in the main competition holding later in the year. The event saw foremost Yoruba movie producer and actors Odunlade Adekola and Afonja Olaniyi, aka Sanyeri rock with the contestants, who battled each other to convince the judges for a slot.

Fuji T’o Bam is the first Fuji music talents hunt in Nigeria, sponsored by Nigeria Breweries Plc through its Goldberg brand. The eventual winner of the contest will be crowned the Wura1 of Fuji T’o Bam in addition to cash reward.

To a large extent, the actors, who played different roles during the Ota audition, were a major boost for contestants, as they motivated them to shake off pressure and put up their best on stage. At the end, some outstanding contestants got standing ovation from fellow contestants and audience.

According to Kufre Ekanem, the Corporate Affairs Adviser of Nigerian Breweries Plc, the competition, which will take place across key cities in South West Nigeria, will have notable Yoruba actors, like Sanyeri, Kamilu Kompo, Mr. Latin and Odunlade Adekola gracing the event from the quarterfinal to the grand finale stages.

In addition to the Ota Audition, others will hold in Ibadan, Oshogbo, and Akure. Identified talents from the auditions will later converge in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital for the final selection of 30 contestants that will proceed to the quarter final at Ota, Ogun State, while Ilesha in Osun State will host the semi-final. The grand finale, which will hold in Ibadan, is expected to be an exciting life changing experience for the finalists.

Highlighting the modalities for the competition, Ekanem emphasised that interested talents are expected to participate in auditions at centers closest to them, while contestants will have about five minutes each on stage to impress the judges at the auditions in order to get into the contest proper.

It would be recalled that Antenna and Twinzobia Twins, the winners of the first and second editions from Oshogbo and Ibadan respectively, are now doing well in their Fuji careers. “We encourage youths with talent in Fuji to seize this rare opportunity that comes once a year to proof their talents.” Ekanem added.
