The remains of the great amazon, Chief Bola Kuforiji-Olubi, were laid to rest in Lagos on Friday, December 23, amidst tributes.

Dignitaries of all hues, who came to pay their last respect to the late former minister, remembered her guts and gusto, which pretty much summed up her entire life and endeavours.

It was entirely consistent with the character and style of the brain and beauty to make her exit with a big bang, preceded by her magnificent 80th birthday party a few months ago.

Indeed, she was a woman of many ‘firsts’ in the fields of business, accountancy, public service, banking and so on.

Kuforiji-Olubi was radiant and vibrant. As for the legion of her admirers (especially women accountants), she was a role model.

Her life was an open book. She was also a gifted orator and avid reader and her eloquence bore testimony to her superb command of language.

For several decades, she was a dominant player in the country’s landscape and did it with consummate elegance and intimidating poise.

Her carriage was regal, with a touch of feistiness.
