Origins And Pathways

“Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.” Hebrews 11:3 (KJV)

IT is not readily understood that words created everything we can see, touch and feel. Meanwhile, it is easier to grasp that every pathway from the brain leads eventually to a muscle; In other words, the thoughts and visions we have within us eventually find their way out by expressing themselves in gestures, actions, postures, words, etc. Therefore it can be said that a man is what he is because of what he thinks. The beliefs, thoughts and images we hold within ourselves is what influences and directs our convictions and decisions.

If your life is not what it should be, you need to change your beliefs first. If we change the way we think then we can change our lives into something worth living for. If you consider yourself a loser your brain would send “loser” signals throughout your system – do not think that your body would work contrary to the messages your brain sends it.

Disclaimer: this isn’t a case of mind over matter; while some benefit has been found in that area it has no power to affect the hidden man of the heart.

“And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding? Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught? But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. or out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:” Mathew 15:16-19 KJV

Only Jesus can make a man whole within, and only from that point that can life come out from within a person. Being born again will change the man inside, from then on there is every chance and opportunity of real change without.

Understanding The Flesh/Renewing The Thought Process

The change or decision a man makes about his life is the first and usually the easiest part of change. You see change is a journey and the most difficult part of that journey is after we have made the decision. Once you have decided to change you have decided to go against an established pattern of behaviour and thought process – reality as it were. You might have made a decision in your heart, but your mind, on the other hand, has always followed a pattern and this pattern has become the established route of choice – it will instinctively follow that route each time unless you intercept it.

Also, at the end of that is the body who is a sticker for comfort and routine; its learned exactly how to behave and to teach it something new is plainly fighting against it! Example; suppose you are used to driving a longer vehicle like a bus – you have been used to manoeuvring it a certain way in traffic. However, you find that you now have to drive a smaller, more delicate car.

If you haven’t truly made the decision to drive more carefully, opportunity and time will always come to revert to your old ways. But if you have made the decision to be gentler, although you might have some difficulty treating that car differently than you did the bus, eventually your habits will change. You would have to remind yourself constantly of what sort of car you are driving and align your body to those thoughts. That is just the routine you would have to reiterate over and over again – tasking but possible.

“For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do”. Galatians 5:17 ESV

So it is not some inaccessible force that you have to deal with but the flesh – specifically, your own. Having a changed man within is not the end of the matter; your change must become evident as it were, on the outside.

Review Of Steps:

1. The renewed, hidden man of the heart

2. A mind constantly conforming to a new way of thinking

3. The body that consummates the decision to change over and over again.

“ And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:2 KJV
