Foundation hosts book-drive Christmas experience for pupils

In the spirit of the yuletide season and towards contributing to the growth of education in the country, the Eziokwu Ebubechukwu Foundation (EEF) recently organised a book-drive Christmas experience for pupils of Olorunda community in Yewa South Local Government, Ogun state.

Other neighbouring communities present include, Irogun Akere, Alaran, Isaga Abata, Asafo, Ojuota, Abule Joga, Isaga Olatunji and Abule Alfa. Speaking during the event, founder EEF, Eziokwu Ebubechukwu who disclosed that over N6 million was invested on the project said, “the gesture is a drive towards empowering the leaders of tomorrow as the foundation is commitment to empowering the younger generation with quality access to education and proper learning tools, irrespective of their location. We are particularly glad that this gesture will boost education in the Olorunda community and also encourage the young people in the geographic location to be more educated.

The vision is to give hope to the less privileged and most vulnerable people in the society. The foundation is committed to fighting illiteracy with particular focus on the rural child. We believe the development of any child starts at their childhood. We work in close collaboration with like-minded individuals like NGO’s, government and international humanitarian bodies to help the indigent improve their living standard and live a life of dignity.”
  
On her part, Head Teacher Yewa South Local Government School Enitan Idowu Omowunmi expressed happiness with the gesture of the foundation. She noted that the role of education in development of rural areas cannot be overemphasised. “Government is trying their best, but there is a need for more infrastructural provisions like good classrooms, potable water and others.”
  
The Baale of Alagbe village, Olaonipekun Alagbe also commended the foundation for reaching out to the community while urging government to assist the residents in provision of basic amenities such as good roads, pipe borne water, electricity and others.
