Lions Club, Rasaq Foundation Fete Ijebu residents at Sallah

The Eko Royal Lions Club and Lagos Pacific Lions Clubs, on Saturday, June 7, joined forces with Balogun Adeshina Rasaq Foundation to provide basic and health amenities to people of Ago Iwoye, Ijebu North Local Council of Ogun State. The event was held at the Focus Hall in Isamuro Ago Iwoye.

It featured free eye screening to over 750 indigenes, and giving out of 300 free reading and vision eye glasses, 400 free eye drops and drugs, 20 free cataracts eye surgery, 1,500 diabetes screening and free drugs, 1500 malaria screening and anti malaria drugs and cash empowerment business support as well as working tools were given out to the less privileged.

Other items donated included sewing machines, hairdryer and vulganising machine.
The yearly event was to commemorate the recently held Muslim Sallah celebrations and was aimed at giving back to the community and touching lives.

The co-organiser, Balogun Adeshina Rasaq, president of Lagos Pacific Lions Club and the president Eko Royal Lion Club assured the indigenes that these initiatives would be a yearly event to support the community and whenever urgent needs arose .

He said: “We will be available to lend our support and vision is part of core mission of Lions Club International,” adding that the life-changing event, in partnership with the Balogun Adeshina Rasaq Foundation, has brought renewed hope and clearer vision to many in need.
“Special appreciation goes to Saint Mary Eye Clinic for bringing in their A’game to the event for proper eye evaluation, screening and dilating. The beneficiaries of the cataract eye surgery will continue follow-up care to ensuring a smooth recovery with the clinic.”
